UTM 5: VoIP Billing Software

UTM Telephony Module

The Telephony Module is a part of the billing system "NetUP UTM v5". It represents the NetUP RADIUS Server intended for processing authorization requests and accounting for consumed services of VoIP Gateways, Gatekeepers, and VoIP Proxy Servers.

NetUP RADIUS Server is an application processing incoming requests via Remote Authentication Dial In User Service protocol (RADIUS, RFC 2138, RFC 2139). On processing a request the RADIUS server turns to the Core of the Billing System via URFA protocol.

VoIP Billing Solutions Overview

VoIP (IP telephony) is a good substitute for classical telephony service, yet it has numerous advantages. Thanks to RADIUS technology, VoIP allows applying real-time rating engines & realizing prepaid billing.

UTM Basic Module, upgraded with the Telephony Module, is a full-scaled VoIP billing software system. It is able to account for both Internet access service & VoIP service, and can be used as a VoIP billing software not only by VoIP service providers, but also by ISP companies who wish to expand the range of provided services. Use of RADIUS server along with VoIP Gatekeepers for call authorization and accounting makes the service being charged for accurately and instantly, that is perfect for ISPs & VoIP providers rendering prepaid services. Telephone directions & zones, and time ranges allow a VoIP provider to set up various call rates (mobile phones, local phones, national calls, international calls, night-time calls, free thresholds, etc).

On basis of the NetUP VoIP billing software (UTM basic module + the Telephony module) there can be realized various VoIP billing solutions. One of them (with the use of Cisco AS5350) is presented below.

Similar VoIP billing solution can be realized on basis of the ISP billing system "UTM 5" with the use of a Cisco-based Gateway (Cisco 26xx, 36xx, 53xx and others).

UTM, as a VoIP billing software system, can be also used along with any other RADIUS-compatible hardware/software, such as VoIP Gatekeepers: GNUGK, Mera MVTS, etc.

Additionally, the VoIP billing system can be coupled with an IVR system (Interactive Voice Responce).
